To celebrate World Down Syndrome Awareness Day, Howdy Homemade Ice Cream has partnered with GiGi’s Playhouse to create this new ice cream flavor! Our Super Hero ice cream is a refreshing blueberry lemonade flavor representing the blue and yellow colors for World Down Syndrome Awareness Day.
World Down Syndrome Awareness Day is recognized each year on March 21st and has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. This date signifies the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome. This is a day to advocate for people with Down syndrome for their rights and inclusion in society.
If you’re wondering how to celebrate Down Syndrome Day, one way you can spread awareness on this day is to wear mismatched or colorful socks. When people ask about your socks, you can open the conversation about World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. Educating those who don’t know much about Down syndrome can drastically make a difference in the lives of those living with the condition – this can help increase their acceptance and treatment within society.

GiGi’s Playhouse creates a welcoming and safe place for individuals with Down syndrome. Here they can participate in programs to explore their abilities, grow their knowledge, and develop their skills. GiGi’s Playhouse is a non-profit organization that’s available at no cost to families. Through partnering with local businesses (such as Howdy Homemade Ice Cream), GiGi’s Playhouse can continue to spread awareness and education to celebrate those with Down syndrome in the community.
